Default So, did you rule out the swaybar link? If so, have your lovely assistant push down on the fender...

GENTLY while you feel around behind the wheel.. You are going to want to feel each ball joint end of the control arms, there are 4, 2 upper and 2 lower. Feel each one, if one is vibrating more than any of the others, it is likely the culprait. You can also try to spray some Wd40 up in the dust boot, just to see if it makes the squeak go away. If it does, again, that is the bad one. It is possible that there may be more than one squeaking. Last time on my wife's car, we ended up replacing 6 of the 8 arms.

Default its really a matter of "feel"..........................

you use a bar for leverage and move the control arms with the car off the ground for lower joints and the car on the ground for uppers.(or was it vice versa?) you are feeling for excessive movement at the joint

it is really a matter of feel, id say take it in and have an audi tech look at it, he will be able to tell for shure

Default just check front sway and it seems fine. I didnt see any sway bar links like the back though.

Looked more like straight bolted on. Check the boots and everything looked ok. Im to the clunking stage. Past the squeaks. i guess I'll try some WD 40 and have someone push down.

Very tough at times.....I had two mechanics looking at my A4 trying to figure out which one was bad.

Default I have a time to go see the dealer tomorrow. If its not expensive ill have them do it there,

Are they going to rape me for having them put it up on a lift and find the problem. The control arms dont look that hard to replace. Did you do your wives?

Default They are quite easy to change, but having a good place to work and big jack and air tools help ;-)

Oh, and yes, I "did my wives" LOL!!! ;-)

What dealer are you going to? They shouldn't be too hard on you just to look at it.
