Default How does everyone feel about cleaning the fuel filter rather then replacing it?

I dropped my fuel tank only to find out that my local VW parts counter gave me the wrong fuel filter. I pulled the existing filter out anyways and cleaned it out. Tons of dirt came out of it. I can only imagine that it will help.

What do you guys think? Worth it or did I waste my time?

Has anyone tried bypassing it and replacing it with a filter thats easier to change/clean?

Default just zip tie it up

the lines dont really give it enough play to fall out... a zip tie is all that is needed to secure it.

Default how did you clean it?

I wouldn't think there would be a decent way to clean it. I'd wait until I had the right filter but I've got the truck to drive if I need to.

With the added fuel demand from the Stg III kit I would replace it asap. No panic but asap.
