Default how easy/hard is a throttle body install on a 2.8 30V?

Got a new (used) throttle body yesterday. I want to put it on myself, but my dealership did offer to put it on for free for me since I made a fuss over some crappy prior work they did on my car.

Should I do it myself, or take it in and not have my car for a couple days?

If I do it:
Should I replace the gasket?
What is the torque value of the mounting bolts?

Anything else I should be aware of?

Thanks!

Default It's not really difficult, assuming you have small flexible hands..

The hardest part, as usual, is getting tools on fasteners.

Replacing the Throttle Body is a real pain. There isn't much room to work. If your car has mileage be prepared to damage your crankcase breather pipe when disconecting it. Also be prepared to replace all the vacuem lines on top of the throttle body, (secondary air selenoid, variable intake selenoid) as they will probably be very brittle.

The gasket is rubber and can usually be reused.

I do all my own work, but if the dealer is going to replace it for free i;d let them do it.

Default Yeah, not only is it a royal PITA to get off of the intake boot...

You usually end up breaking it into many pieces in the process.

Default Done Probably 20 of them

Audi has a recall for them, I think they were 98 a6's? can't remember, its been a couple of months. Replacing throttle bodies due to icing concerns.

Any way, I did so many, most on high mileage cars. Hated every single one of them.
