One liter is enough to flush & fill? I thought I read 1.5 - 2 somewhere?

Default 1.0 liters is exactly what you need according to bentley...
in my experience, waiting for bubbles to disappear, slight spills...etc, you'll use over a liter. 2liters was enough for me to flush the brakes and clutch.

I suspect 1.5liters is safe for the just bleeding the brakes.

probably 1.5 - 2 *bottles* that are 500mL ... like Motul RBF 600.
