Default How's The 1.8T reliability?

I am considering purchasing a used 1.8T or a 90-91 90 Quattro. The A4 only makes financial sense if it is near bullet proof.

What's the experience here?

Default How adept are you at doing minor repairs yourself? Here's my experience...

The 1.8T has outstanding power for it's size and runs smoothly for a 4 banger once it's warm. My A4's body and chassis (50k miles) is still as solid as a new car. I was worried about the A4's reliability before I bought mine after researching it in consumer reports. The problems in my A4 have been numerous but very minor. Mostly just electrical problems and sensors and pumps failing. If I didn't have the Audi Assured warranty all of these minor problems would have cost me well over a thousand dollars (I've only had the car for a year). Try to find an Audi Assured A4; they're the pick of the used-Audi litter and you'll have two years to test the reliability for yourself.
