I am a moron...........(major driving offenses)(long)
Well, it finally happenned, the mods finally got the best of me and it looks like I am in deep water.
Tuesday nite about 11:45 PM, I was heading home from a frinds jam at a bar near my office, didnt feel too good, have had stomach problems all last week and just wanted to get home and sit on the pot for a while. I entered Chicagolands western tollway, I355 and proceeded south, probably entering the tollway at 80-85 and easily hitting 100 in a matter of no time at all. I had noticed a 'Mustang looking' set of lites and fogs behind me soon after...not right on me, but behind me. As I would boost up and leap ahead, the mustang would sorta catch up, but never close to my a$$ end...The thought of it being a pursuit vehicle for the Ill State Police didnt cross my mind, because it was white, tinted, had F 345 678 on its plates and it never tailed me closely. I zipped by a few cars here and there, at about 100 dead on, maybe 110 but not for long. After 9 miles the Mustang finally closed in (I had slowed down, since the tollway was busier on the south end) and flipped on the lites......oh ****. Never in my 29 years have I been so quickly ripped out of my seat, cuffed and searched. Actually the officer was very cool, just said that I was in a ****load of trouble.....and that I was the luckiest person alive because his EYEWITNESS camera and VTR were broken that day!!! Phew!! We sat in the car for a while and started talking about Skip Barber school, apexes ..and how freakin' fast my car was....the mustang couldnt keep up for about 4-5 of those miles, he said I would just disappear!! ...then he asked what I had done to the that twin turbo six cylinder.....HA, he about **** when I told him it was a 1.8Turbo with some mods. he actually opened the hood to see for himself!!
Well I got 5 citations but was very fortunate to leave his car and get back into mine, I shouldve been arrested and towed FOR SURE. Heres what I got...now to find a Lawyer:
1. Speeding - 40 mph over posted speed limit
2. Reckless Driving
3. Improper lane usage (where?? - )
4. Following too close (big brakes are actually a bad thing)
5. Failure to signal (I guessI missed one or two)
I think the reckless and excessive speeding thing are gonna be the bad ones....Ive never done anything bad before, I have one speeding ticket on my record and thats it.
So....dont drive like a total idiot, like I did, because it will probably cost as much as a Stage 3 setup. Its time to save the mods for track days, I guess. Also, in light of hearing about Kiraths friends in that Civic, its just another reason to NOT drive this way on public roads. i really feel like an idiot and you should all remind me of that if you reply.

Damn, if you're gonna do it, go big I guess.
We've all done it, we've all felt stupid after doing it. You just got caught. Lesson learned... move on. Glad you're safe as well as everyone else on the road.
At least your in one piece and not in jail.

It's nice to see someone own up when they make a mistake, I'm soo sick of some of the kids here badmouthing cops for doing their job.
If you take your current attitude into court (and you get a sympathetic judge and prosecutor), you might just slide by with deferred ajudication, or if the cop decides to cut you a break, he may not show. No tape, no cop, no case.

The ONE time I have opened my car up on the highway...
...the cop pulled over the guy I passed as I was slowing back down to posted speed. I saw the lights coming and thought I was dead. I took it as a sign not to do that again!
(It was dusk on a clear stretch of interstate - no cars in view front or back while at speed - and hit 100 or so. Let off and coasted down to 70. Passed the other car while doing about 80 in the left lane. I still don't know where the cop came from or how he made the mistake!)
I hope things go as well as they can in court! At least the cop was doing his job and not being the harda** he could have been.

I found that I've been driving way-more gradma-like since I've racing on road courses.
People tend to think that it is the opposite (that once you go home from the track you want to rip up the highway).
For myself and a couple of other people I know, it had the total opposite effect: I take it easy now when driving around town. Like I realized that it was just not worth it...

I hit the speed limiter (135) on the bridge a couple of weeks ago not to proud but didn't get caught
no cars or anything around perfect conditions not reckless except for the speed. car does handle well.
