A comment....
Your clutch and pressure plate are probably showing some of their age/wear. You might try flushing out out the clutch slave. Sometimes that can help improve the situation.
Where about at that stage on our 30v and I'm about to install a SACHs clutch kit.

well its a new clutch and flywheel so I dont think the clutch should be showing "age"...
and ive had the car for about 2 years... so not getting used to thing, just was wondering what if anything anyone had done. Does anyone who has done any sort of modification know how far the clutch does have to be depressed in order to start the car?

ceteris paribus....
The torque is probably off on the pressure plate. My guess is that someone under torqued(or loosened up) the bolts. When you say "new", how new? You can also have problems if oil or debris get in the threads of the holes for the pressure plate bolts. Its also important to use new bolts with the factory thread locking compound, so the proper torque is kept(and held) on the pressure plate.
If the clutch is 2 years old and you're hard on the clutch, it can be showing its age.
