The A4 was about 5 inches too short..

Here is a pic of the skis leaning against the rear hatch of the A4.. I am 6'1", and can easily stand under the hatch.

Default You've singled-handedly submarined VAG's plans to introduce the new S8 Avant next year.

Nice going! :P

Default Are we both out of touch with modern ski design (it's been since my USEASA days since I bought a

pair of downhill skis ... 223s IIRC) or do current technology downhills still run that long? Bear in mind I still ski on 207 slalom skis

Default These are 225s.. They are VERY old school... I just recently got a pair of 'shaped' skis...

they are 198cm Volkl p30 GS skis.. Short by what I am used to, 207cm slaloms :-)

My dad just got a pair of 181cm Volkl gs skis, they feel incredibly stable for their length..

As for if modern DHers are using the long flat streight boards, I really don't know, but I can't see going flat out on anything less than a 215...

Default ha... i run 171 twin tips....165 for slalom racing... 180 for downhill - im 5'9 and thats (more)

standard...
my uncle was on the italian national team 2 decades or so ago he was runnin 230 for downhill, he's 6'1.... he was riding 207 atomics til 5 years ago now hes back in synch too. it changes quick but the feel of even the 180s when goin 100 km/h is amazing so the technology is def. there
