Well it isn't cost effective to swap out your drivetrain. You can pick up a used A4 pretty cheap these days. Of course there are other options than the 1.8T equipped cars. Depends on how much you want to spend. what is your financial situation? are you a student?
If money is tight, then save it for maintenance on the car you already have. It will need it sooner or later.
Don't waste your money getting a tqm that you won't be able to afford. Unless you're going to a track (which will cost even more money) you are better off staying with what you have until the time when you can afford the car you want.
