ignition control unit replacement - quick questions
I'll be changing my ICU tomorrow. Want to verify the following:
1) I do not need to disconnect the battery
2) I use the thermal paste on the silver base of the ICU... stick a blob in the center and press down
3) Will my check engine light go off by itself?
4) Any need to clear the code in the computer (I don't have a vag thing)?

Clearing codes is always a good idea. The CEL will likely go out after x number of good cycles
but the code will reamin. It is ALWAYS best to disconnect the battery when working under the hood .. and especially on the electrical system. Safety, safety, safety.
