Question on Codes and Erasing Them
Thanks all
Thanks all
All fault codes have different parameters, some will show up the first time the fault occurs and clear immediately once the problem is repaired.
The EGR error takes 4-7 cycles to return.
Driven 2 days and 75 miles and no return light. Plus sounds like then the code i cleared was the original code as I borrowed a ODB Tool from local auto store.
Ok.....thanks...so far nothing but we will see.

It is to actually check the car under normal operating conditions.Just like you can't clear the code and drive to the smog test, you can't just leave the car idling in your driveway to clear the EGR code. (Otherwise everyone would do that to pass emissions)
EGR requires something like cold start, warm up to temp, run at 3500 rpm. It's part of OBD II specs.
Last time I cleaned my EGR, I didn't bother clearing the code, it took about 2 weeks to clear on its own.
You can check whether EGR is working my monitoring intake temps in VAG.com. Rev the car up and you should see the temp increase as the valve opens.
