injector problem?
so, my CEL(flashing) came on and my car was shaking(drove real slow, no power)
my local shop diagnosed it as an injector and changed it and then it went out again. any ideas wht this could be? coils were checked, new spark plugs.
also my car smells like exaust when the heater is on, any ideas about this too? have been to the stealership 6 times for this problem

Tell them you suspect the ICM, and they should pull codes too.
16684 random cyl misfires or 16686 #2 cyl misfire seems to be the most common. A bad coil pack or injector will throw that code too. Swap coil packs then check codes if the code shows a different cyl then that coil pack is bad, if it is still #2 it's more than likely the ICM.

You made it sound like swapping the injector took care of the CEL but that now the car smells of
fuel, especially when the heater is on. If the coolant temperature sensor was lying to the ECU by saying the engine was stone cold when it was actually fully warmed the ECU will add fuel as part of its cold start up routine. The results can be pig rich conditions until the long term fuel trim finally sets a DTC and lights the CEL.
