Default Installing in-dash CD in my '97 A4 with Bose -- is that a HASSLE??

Hi guys,

Anyone here familiar with installing after market CD receiver in the dash of '97 A4 with Bose?

I spoke with someone from crutchfield.com, and they said that since I have Bose in my car, I would need to REPLACE ALL THE SPEAKERS AS WELL?

Is that true?
How much hassle is that?
How much would that cost me?

I found a great CD-receiver for only $250 (see link below), but having to change the speakers sounds pretty aweful to me...

Default Woah! I dunno about bose, but I think I read that each speaker has it's own amp...

I may be wrong. But replacing all the speakers should not be that hard. It will cost more of course. Also, I looked at that head unit, it wasn't on the list of ones to fit, did the Crutchfield rep say it will fit?

The first thing I do when I get a new car is toss the factory speakers anyway

Default not sure about current models, but

for many previous models, the front speaker were passive, and the rears were powered...not only that, but the signal return was different, so if you went with
more conventional stuff, you would probably have to run new wires for the speakers<p>'01 1.8T Avant - India Red

Default Yes, they say it fits. On their site you can enter 1997 Audi A4 Bose, and it comes up in a list...
