Instrument Cluster........

is it possible to change out a 96 instrument cluster and replace it with one of the later ones that have the screen in the middle?, if it is, is there anything else to change with it? some sort of processing unit?

There are a lot of sensors involved in adding the trip computer

as far as I know nobody has done this swap for this reason.

its been done

its just not worth the effort for a cluster that will need replacing every 2-3 years.

I think i asked this a while ago....not realy possible...

you can install it, and program it to work, but i dont think the screen can be made to function, except maybe outside temp, and gear display (if auto). I mean it prob CAN be done but itll cost a huge amount of money to add and/or change the other parts that are required. Besides...why would you want one? its just going to fade/ loose lines in the future.
