Interesting? timing belt conversation....
I just called George & Jacks in Clifton, NJ as recommended by some folks on this board (thanks) and the mechanic told me not to worry about changing the timing belt until 90k miles. He said he's never seen any problems before 90k, and he's even done a few in the 100k plus range.
So what's the deal - 60k or 90k, or should I just split the difference and do it at 75k?

2.8 or 1.8T?
For 1.8T it is vital that you change the TB at 60K miles, for the 2.8 it is recommended but not as crucial. I say play it safe and do it anyways, it's a small price to pay not to destroy your engine.

Audi assured in Canada goes up to 96K miles...
One would think that Audi does'nt want to deal with blown engines. Maybe you can wait until 90k but are you willing to take that chance without warranty?
I expect to do mine a couple days/weeks before the wearranty expires.
