Is there any possible way to order a 2.8 with the 1.8 interior trim (i.e. no wood)?

Yes, you can avoid the tacky wood by ordering the sports option.

I prefer the wood to the 1.8 interior. I also prefer the silver trim trim on the 2.8.

No, but you can get rid of the wood by buying the aluminum trim and swaping the two.
