IS300

Anyone going to test drive the IS300? Looks like it would be formidable, although less classy, competition. I plan on checking it out; my 96 A4 is getting long in the tooth, and service after the "free maintenance" period is extremely costly. I really hope that I can wait 'til the redesign for 2002

Maybe I haven't gotten a good look at

it, but the new IS300 looks a lot to me like a decked out Toyota Echo/Ford Focus. But hey, it's a Lexus and I know the car has to be good. Just my thoughts...<p>KC

Going to drive IS300 sometimes later this month

in Mission Raceway, BC.
We will have a chance to compare IS300 vs A4 2.8 vs 323/328 vs C280 on the race track. Hope all German sports sedans make to the show will have sports suspension package.
Its unfair to compare C280 which is a going to the end of life cycle. :<<p>Tom

I was excited about it but was disappointed when I saw it in person at the LA Auto Show..

the IS300 has been around in Europe/Japan as a Toyota Altezza and from what I gather from foreign publications, it hasn't really affected Audi/BMW's segement all that much. I really don't think affect the US segment that much either - more of a upgrade/step-up for the rice-burners.
