Ahh that well I don't think there's a need to do that now that the, "code" for writing
the trip computer has been broken. I among other people now understand how to write to the radio information display area of the trip computer...it's rather simple serial communication with a checksum routine...that was the part that stalled us for...ohh about an afternoon. Lorin Ting is currently working on a boost gauge...if he doesn't go beyond this I might look at doing something more in depth. He has a big advantage of having written a fair bit of firmware...which isn't one of my strong suits...I can figure the stuff out...dont' get me wrong, but working with him will probably prove more fruitful than trying to work against him / compete, besides he seems like a pretty cool guy :-)
It turned out that the communication was in fact NOT CAN but rather your basic 3 wire serial...with a Bit Clock, Word / Frame Clock and Serial Data Line...I had assumed this might be the case but never pulled the radio to confirm...Lorin did...kudos to him. I was told by the Zone rep that it was CAN so I didn't even bother to check...last time I make that mistake I can assure you.
Anyhow...so I'm sure you can imagine how much nicer it'd be to have this in the trip computer...so that's the direction we're all going in ;-) It's gonna be the bomb if it ever gets finished...if Lorin slacks too much then I'll probably pick it up...it's just too cool not to. That is in between when Ed's not pimpin me out to design HF Cellular stuff for him ;-)
