jdulac - sorry about not resonding sooner about the exhaust tips...
What I ended up doing is cutting about 2" off the chrome Car Quest rolled end tips just past the flare and re-tapping bolt holes for 1/4 x 1/2" stainless steel bolts. This puts the ends of the add on tips just barely past the ends of the stock tips and they look great. Since the stock tips are stainless I'm not not going to worry a lot about trapped condesation causing problems, although I plan on keeping an eye on them, as well as keeping them clean. I went to every store in town and found some straight chrome angle-cut tips but the chrome job sucked on all of them, and the ends were ragged and dinged up. All of the rolled end tips looked as bad except Car Quest's. The chrome job is excellent on them and I still like the look of rolled end tips, which is why I decided to put them back on with some mods. I can post a picture if you want to check it out.
If I get tired of the add ons and want a different look for a while, the stock tips will always look like chrome since they're polished.

Thanks for the update. Looks like you worked hard on getting the look you wanted! I polished mine up yesterday with the medium and fine emory but I still have white dots that appear. They definitely look better than before but I think your right they don't look beefy enough, I think if they were a little thicker they would look better. But of coarse not too thick don't want the souped up honda civic look either.
I still didn't try the #7 compound on them and I'm not sure if I sanded enough. My girlfriend thought if I keep going I'll end up sanding the tips down to nothing. LOL. I'm a little weary of using the coarse because of the scratches that the medium can put into them. Post some pics if you can.

I don't know what the white spots are on yours but I think if you go to Home Depot and get the Norton Metal Finishing Pad, it will help immensely. It works fantastic, lasts forever and can be cut to size. Use it til the spots disappear then use Turtle Wax white polishing compound to get the mirror finish. Don't use any more coarse grit stuff. The Norton Pad will be plenty and get the metal smooth and relatively shiny. By the way, I was at my Audi dealer today and the parts department had the No. 7 white polishing compound. But the Turtle Wax is the same thing.
Let me know how the tips come out. Don't worry about sanding too much off and get your girlfiend to help!!

DRC Nice Job!!!
Those look great. How much work was really involved? You just drilled a hole were the weld is on the stock exhaust tips? And where did you pick up those car quest tips? Thanks appreciate all your help.
