Default Just checking...

Last night I go to unlock my doors with the remote. Alarm de-activiates, but doors stay locked. Unlock door manually. Shut the door. Hit the lock button on the remote, alarm activates, door stays unlocked. So I'm guessing I need a new central locking pump?

Well, what happens when you try to use the key, or the lock button inside the car?

Pull out the lock pump and look at it. Take you 5 minutes to find out if it's busted.

Default Well looking at it won't tell you much...

The way I could tell when my door lock pump went bad was when I had to unlock and lock the doors manually. The remote, and unlock button did not do anything. However when the remote lock button was pressed, the alarm would arm, but the locks wouldn't go down. How about fuses?

Default I think he means look inside the pump...

there will be a shattered disc inside if it's broken. Common mode of failure for these things.

Default Lock button inside the car does nothing either. Sorry, forgot to mention.

The key opens only the driver side door and disarms the alam as well when I put it in the keyhole.

Yep. If you pull it out and it sounds like a box of cracker jack, then it's time for a new pump.

Default Try to lock the doors while inside the car, you should hear a long whining sound form the right rear

I always thought that it was the fuel pump, until the damn thing broke and the whining got longer...
It tries to lock the doors longer, but can't and throws a code and shuts off. (I think this is what happens when the plastic piece fails.) Use a VAG tool to be sure. The dealership might do it for free. I'd check before trying though.
