Just got my BV from the group buy Anand arranged.......
How can i tell if its the correct one? On one side of it it says "Bosch" with a "040" underneath it and on the other side it says "Made in Germany" Above where is says made in germany it looks like there used to be numbers there but it is all rubbed off, like with a file or something.
It looks as though the diaphram thing inside is made out of brass.
Should there be a number on it that tells me its the correct one? I have looked throught the forum and seem many references to valves with specific numbers so I assume that this should have one.
Can someone please help? Also does anyone know how to install it or is there somewhere I can look to find this, I looked in the FAQ.
Thanks for all the help.
Rob

The part number is not privy to us, this was a huge deal in the performance forum about a month ago.
you've got the right valve. i think in the archives there is a detailed post on how to install it.

Careful, the valves all use the same boy. You won't be able to easily tell them apart
The metal reinforcing is behind the rubber diaphram in the revised and MC's DV. They will all have that brass disk when you look in the end of it.

Thats it....
...although almost any of the similar Bosch units with the part number removed would look like that.
Installation. Remove old one, install new one in same place. The only thing you need to prepare for is the removal and replacement of 2 of the 3 hose clamps that are single use crimp types. I used clamps from Home Depot. Others have re-used the originals.
2001 A4 1.8TQMS
