Default weird. I thought that that was a very old recall and was mostly taken care of during

the first year of services. I'm surprised that your ignition lasted this long without issues.

I think recalls aren't dependent on original owners. They send them out according to VIN.

Default I'll have to check into it again but I know there was an action/tsb a long time ago

for the ignition switch. It is the 4A0 ignition switch not the 4B0 which they started using in 98 sometime.

Yes I got this info a while back and I was wondering what the deal was with revisiting the ignition switch replacement.

Default I wonder if they have the same "New" recall for porsche. They also had an ignition recall

around '97 - '98.. The replaced ignition didn't seem much better back then.

I wouldnt be surprised if it is the same part with a Porsche logo instead of Audi.

Default Dunno, the date that it was reported to NHTSA was 10/26/2006...this is different ->

"DEALERS WILL INSTALL A NEW IGNITION SWITCH WITH AN OPTIMIZED ANCHOR POINT FREE OF CHARGE. THE RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON NOVEMBER 27, 2006. OWNERS MAY CONTACT AUDI AT 1-800-822-2834. NOTE: THIS RECALL SUPERSEDES THE REMEDY PROGRAM UNDER A PREVIOUS RECALL (PLEASE SEE 00V317)."<ul><li><a href="http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallresults.cfm?start=1&amp;SearchType=QuickSear ch&amp;rcl_ID=06V403000&amp;summary=true&amp;Print Version=NO">http://www-odi.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/recalls/recallresults.cfm?s
