Default Just installed UUC short shifter

Very easy installation in 97 A4. It will take no more than thirty minutes if you have the tools. Instructions provided by UUC are great except that you will have to adjust your shift position. This is very easy and has been written about in the past, but it simply means adjusting the two hex screws that connect the shifter to the cables. Again very easy and the whol thing in less than 30 minutes.

A few notes:
Use the proper tools! Get a 6mm hex socket to use vice an allen wrench. Chances are that you will not be able to get the torque required without a rachet.
The slipring is a silly deseign and fragil. Be carful with it. I had to use plier to re shape mine and I did use slipring pliers to remove the thing.

Happy driving and short shifting.

Sweet. How about your impressions on the feel, solidness, any complaints?

Default VERY solid piece of gear

The UUC Short shifter is a very solid piece of equipment. The new feel is very noticable as far as stick movement. However the effort required is only minimally noticable. The feel is notchier, but that is a result of the increased effort. This is a very nice mod. Subtle but you will appreciate it every time your hand looks for that long shift and is rewarded with a crisp/precise gear change.

Default I'm glad you like your short shifter. I had a different experience on a BMW. It was the same UUC

company. I really got tired of the extra effort required to shift even though the throws were shorter. On the bimmer the shifter got really notchy which was worse than the longer throws. Even when I sold the car the buyer asked if the shifter could be changed back. One thing I can say that's positive is that the UUC people are very nice to deal with.
