I am the new owner of a 1998 A4 1.8T and just purchased a pair of used e-code european HID headlights [off a '99 A4] on eBay. The headlights are complete with bulbs and ballasts but don't have the auto leveling motors. I know I have to trim the fenders but does anyone know what I need to do to wire these properly? I have the round plugs on the car and the new HID's have an oval plug...I think. Take a look at the link to the auction, there is a decent picture of the HID's there. Also, what's the story with auto levelers? Will I have a problem since they are missing?

You can get a wiring adapter from ECS Tuning for about 50 bones. Complete with wiring diagram. As for the autolevelers, your vehical isnt equipped with the sensors.

Thanks for the info on the harness from ECS. No I need to find that shipping plug to keep the HID's from bouncing around. Any ideas?

I understand that I don't have the auto level feature on the car and I don't want it. My question is without the auto level motor in the headlights, will there be a problem or can I get a piece that needs to support the assembly in place of the missing motor?

I have no idea, I bought the regular halogen housings from ecs and currently are converting to a hella/Phillips xenon setup. Try searching here and <a href="http://www.audizine.com">Audizine</a>.
