I'm sure having royal purple in there for a year didnt hurt anything (better than what was probably original fluid at 130k) but shifting in the cold was a chore. Mobil1 feels much better so far. (just fyi)

Default I wonder if Redline Shock gear oil would make a difference for you in the cold

it made a huge difference on my car while racing at the drags. Just replaced 1qt of Motul 300 for 1qt of redline shock.

Manual? FYI, M1 being a GL-5 fluid is not recommended for a manual VAG tranny.

Default New fluid always feels better. RP is just ok. Mobil 1 GL-5 won't hurt if it shifts ok, but friction-

coefficient is too slippery for syncros to properly engage but if it works, it works. It maybe even better for noisy or old trans. It WON'T hurt the yellow metals, despite what people tell you.

Default why not use the OEM fluid? RedLine MT-90 would be another one to consider.

FYI, I'm happy with RP Synchromax in mine, but then again, I'm in FL so it's hard to talk about cold shifting.

AMSoil, imo.Use the M1 until you don't like it. Redline is good, but some report issues in VAG.

Default How about Motul Gear 300?

I am currently using it in my tranny and diff. Works great so far. Felt a difference over the stock/original fluid (but that was old and had almost 150K on it).

Euro-speced GL-4 MTF is great stuff, but in diffs any old GL-5 90 gear oil is fine. M1 or DuraBlend
