I've got a similar issue, I get the rattling noise when I lift off the throttle but I don't get any boost either. However mine happened shortly after I hit a huge pothole with the right front wheel. The one thing I noticed is the rod that goes from the wastegate diaprham to the arm that opens the valve in the Exhaust housing is completely loose.

Well what I'm thinkin is the clip that holds the two nuts on... came off and the nuts backed off, I can't see why the turbo would be dead....
