k04 regrets? anyone

so here i am now....99.5 a4 1.8t ndbw with the upsolute chip

considering the k04 upgrade even tho nothing is wrong with my turbo.

does anyone feel it was 800 dollars wasted or something they wish they hadn't done?

I don't think anyone would regret installing a K04 with or without the PC-16 file (nDBW cars), but

it shouldn't be used as a "stepping stone" to a big turbo. It's just too much of a waste of money. These would be the guys that have regrets (maybe).

BTW: It's not a good plan to run a K04 on K03 software. It'll make the car run lean, and lean=dangerous. You can do it temporarily (I did it for 3-4 weeks), but you're risking it.

If you are planning to continue to run K03 software on it, I'd wait until the K03 dies

there is a power gain just by switching the turbo out, but it's small. May as well get all the life out of your existing turbo. A K04 will run fine on K03 software, despite what some may say. If you're considering an entire K04 upgrade (injectors, software, FPR), save up to buy a kit. Piecing it together won't save you anything in the long run.
