Default Key coding and climate control...(long)

Just got my car back from the dealer after having some minor service done. Here is a list of the issues and what was done to resolve them:
1) Cigarette Lighter Malfunction - When I took delivery of the car 1 1/2 months ago, I noticed the cig lighter (99.5 - in center console) wouldn't open. Result: Not resolved. A scratched up center console and new cig lighter part needs to be ordered.
2) Autolock - Told service guy I'd like this feature option, he told me it would cost me, pulled out copy of TSB (thanks to the poster!!). Result: Resolved.
3) Headlight adjustment - Asked service guy to check. Result: Resolved. Said they raised them for me.
4) Key coding and climate control - On page 29 of the Supplemental Owner's Manual, there's a section on key coding and it basically says that each key memorizes the climate control setting (e.g. With key 1, I set the climate control to 70, disengage key, insert and start car with key 2. Climate control is set to 70, so I change the setting to 75, then disengage key and re-insert and start car with key 1. Climate control setting at 75 (no memory)). Brought both keys to dealer and asked them to fix. Result: They told me that my car doesn't have memory seating and the only way key coding works is with memory seating. I told him that I wasn't aware that A4s came with memory seating as an option. He said yes. So I call AoA and bring this issue up with them. They tell me that key coding and memory seating is available with the convenience package (as well as home link transmitter, auto-dimming mirrors, etc.) on the 1999.5 model.
My questions are: Does anybody have the key coding feature on their cars? If so, do you have memory seating or this convenience package? It seems like this version of the convenience package (memory seating, homelink, etc.) will be available in the 2000 model because I looked at various sites (here, audiusa.com, edmunds, carpoint) about the standard and optional features for the 1999 and 1999.5 and didn't see "convenience package" as an option. On the 1998 model, there is a "convenience package" but it didn't have any of ther features that AoA is telling me it has.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
-Al

My experience with the key coding feature is that it's not activated by the key being inserted into the ignition, but rather by the keyless remote as you unlock the door. That is how it works in the A6. I haven't played around with the 99.5 A4 features yet to know if it's the same type of system, though. Does the 99.5 A4 with power seats have some sort of seat memory function?
John
The Homelink system, auto-dimming mirrors, and memory seats are not available for the 99.5 A4 model. The memory seats are standard for the 99 Passat GLX, however.
Regarding the so-called "convenience package", I believe that's what Audi used to call the sunroof/remote entry package option on 98.5 and earlier models.
