Default Leaks, leaks, leaks every where!...

Had my car up on jackstands the other day to change rear brakes and noticed a leak on the drivers side of the rear diff. I started looking around more and found a leak where the drive shaft meets the rear diff as well as a leak coming from the drive shaft seal on the tranny. From what I've read in the forums the rear diff leaks are common. The question is though, how urgent is it to have them fixed? I have never noticed any oil spots on the garage floor and am guessing that the leaks have spread a lot due to very warm weather recently. If I'm not getting any dripping is it anyhting to panic about? Also anyone know what I'd be looking at to have the rear diff seal replaced? I did know about the tranny leak and was quoted around $600.00 can I expect the same for the rear diff?
Thanks

Default The diff seals get quotes of around 2-3 hours.

I have the output seals in my parts to install box, but have opted to put off due to not having the seal puller. There is a tech article and I am about to use it to pull the tool part number from it and just to them myself. I am not paying 500 bucks to replace seals that can't take more than an hour to do. I avoid mechanics all together these days.

Tech

The toughest part is getting the A4 in the air high enough to do it, then sure, avoiding is easy.

That's why I have been avoiding it. It's a repair suited for a lift

Default Paid $420CDN last year for both seals took 3.5hours at Eurasia in Edmonton.

If you getting it done in Calgary dont go to acclaimed automotive.

Default Same here, I read through the tech article yesterday and decided that I'd need a lift..

so being as I don't have one I'll have to check into having someone do it for me!

Default Acclaimed? Do you know off had what their shop rate is?...

I have been going to Midtown Service and have had pretty good luck with them. $420.00 isn't too bad imo.
