Default lemmiwinks question

This is pretty dumb, but I am unsure after searching. If I make changes using lemmiwinks am I making changes to the ECU program. exp...If I increase timing, is this on top of the timing that GIAC programmed the chip with or am I over writing their settings?

Default No need... reply inside. :)

The Lemmiwinks settings are stored outside of the "chip". So the ECU takes whatever timing (fueling, etc.) maps are on the chip (stock, GIAC, etc.) and applies the lemmiwinks tweaks to those maps.

So adding +3 degrees timing via Lemmiwinks to a GIAC chip would put you +3 degrees above GIAC's programming (assuming your car can handle the additional timing... otherwise, it'll just correct and retard out that added timing).

Default It's on top of whatever programming you have on there

If you're going to play with timing, I highly recommend keeping track of the Correction factors and knock sensors.

ALso, it's best to adjust timing in the worst of condition (hot hot hot).. keep it within safe parameters there, and then you'll be ok in all conditions.

If you're not sure how to do that, you might want to trust that Garret knew what he was doing ;-)

(If you live in Cali, leave it.. if you live somewhere else with better gas, you may be able to get mild improvement)
