A local So Cal (Gardena) powdercoat store will do four 17" rims for $125. Interest in a group buy?

Or if anyone wants to have the phone # of the shop, e-mail me. I think the price is great.

Default Pretty good price but...

Does that include stripping the rims first? Usually it costs about $15 per rim to do it (Chemically stripped). I just go my 18" rims powdercoated Black and it ended up running me $200 for all the rims to be stripped and coated.

Also, if you plan on doing this, consider that it costs about 15 a tire to dismount and also about another 20 per tire to remount and balance after you get your rims powdercaoted. Just something to consider...I would never do it again, too much of a pain the ***.

Default Harbor Freight Tools sells a powder coating kit for 100 bucks

all the stuff you need minus the paint. Plus a whole lot of disclaimer literature about not touching the electrical stuff.

Default My costs so far.

Well, I took my RCs to Truwheel in North Hollywood to get stripped and they charged me $30 per wheel. Actually, it wasn't stripping but more of a polish since they were painted. Heck, maybe they used acid to get throught the paint and then polishing compound, I dunno. But so far my total costs are $120 plus gas/time. Then another $125 to get coated. Not too bad but $200 total is a much better deal. I'll try the shop in Gardena and see how it goes.
