Looking at an A4, comparing to 5000s...
So, I'm trying to convincethe powers-that-be that an A4 (96, 2.8 v6 quattro) wouldn't be a hassle. However, my mom is awfully scared about committing to another Audi after my 5000s. Any comments on how repairs/etc go?
I'm sure the A4 is far better, but I can't seem to impress that upon my mom simply because I haven't been one of the people who she trusts her entire like [if we could bring my uncle down to look at the car she'd be fine with it. Ugh.]
Thanks for your help,
John

tell her that the 5000s was a mid 80's model, when audi wasnt concerned with much in America, especially build quality, service, etc. nowadays, theyve increased their image 300% with them being ranked 3rd in luxury cars for service
i know what youre dealing with, my dad has a 5000s as well, odometer stopped at 49k, chrome trim is coming off, wow, what a complete turn around..anyway get her to check out a few sites, take her to a dealer, shower her with brochures, anything positive about Audi

extended warranty is all I have to say. You dont want to see my service bills. $$$
I have a 96 12v and my car loves the dealer's service bays. All of this work has been done since july 2002.
I am waiting to bring it in for an airbag module replacement
I've had the alarm module replaced, only took a month to fix, with the car at the dealer every friday for a month. Then they kept it for 5 days and finally fixed it.
had to buy a new remote $135 for a POS remote
Both Rear Wheel bearings
Oxygen sensors 2 of them
instrument panel
wiper motors
abs sensor
climate control computer/control thing
Defective Rotor
Get a 1997 1.8T and an extended warranty, they are much easier to tweak. There are limited possibilities for the 12v right now. We are still waiting to get somebody to do an ECU upgrade. The Hitachi ECU is a bitch.
