Missing Sub Frame Bolt
I noticed some unusual wear on the inner edge of the right front tire ( 98.5 1.8T QS with 77k mostly happy miles). Took it the place which sold me the B'stone Potenzas to check it out. On allignment rack, the tech noticed a missing front subframe bolt (driver's side, rear); i could see about half inch of sag against the metal bracket which looks to be bent down a bit compared to the others.
The right front tire had shed some strips which wrapped around the CV joint and tore the boot.
I'm assuming the missing bolt and frame sag are the likely causes of the extreme tire wear. Anyone familiar with front subframe allignment and tire wear cause and effect?
Anyone else ever lose a subframe bolt??? 77k miles, mostly commuting on good roads; do recall hitting a pretty good pothole a few months back, but on the right side, not the left. Would a 6-8 inch pothole at 55mph do this?
Any other problems/issues I should be on alert for when I have this checked out?
I'm assuming it's a good idea to have it towed rather than driving it 80 miles to the dealer....
