Missing under Acceleration

Yesterday, after a 2 hr drive from Atlanta, I started to accelerate hard from a traffic light and my car (2001 A4 1.8TQM) starting missing and the CEL light started flashing. I tried again at the next light and the same thing happened only this time the CEL light stayed lit.

Under normal driving, without heavy acceleration, the car seems to run fine.

I pulled a couple VAG codes:

2 Faults Found:
16684 - Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected
P0300 - 35-00 - -
16686 - Cylinder 2: Misfire Detected
P0302 - 35-00 - -
Readiness: 0000 0000

Any ideas?

Common, common issue. Did you search? Did you read the FAQ?

I'd say no. Well, it's something ignition related, so check the obvious.

Spark plugs and their gaps and the coil packs. Your car does not have an ICM, so that's ruled out. Play musical CPs and see if the misfire moves with the coil pack.
