Most beneficial autocross mod for around 400 bucks?
If you were planning on starting autocross events, and you had about 400 dollars to spend, what would you buy that would help the most?
Used Borla
Intake, BPV, Shortshifter
Some kind of brake upgrade
Chip
Other
Im guessing most will probably say chip...My clutch will probably go soon if i put too much more hard driving on it, 70K miles, should i just stay away from the Autocross in the first place? I also havent done T-belt, would auto-x make it fail faster??? thanks for the help

I autocross as well. For $400 I would say tires. Although
you're pushing the budget pretty tight. 16" Falken Azenis would be the way to go for that price. You can't get a DOT race tire for that cheap.

sticky tires, lighter wheels. Brakes Too.
Honestly most autox courses are smaller, with lots of turns. 50hp, although beneficial is not going to make or break your time. You want strong turning, and lots of grip. Take it from there.
Your only going to shift once, right to second, so don't worry to much about the clutch..it can handle stock power fine.

if you're bone stock, i'd say....
sway bars and short shifter. you really don't need to shift, but it's a nice mod to have anyway and you'll like it.
when you can afford it, tires will make a crazy difference! less roll, better traction, trust me on that one.
screw the intake. when you have about $650, get a chip and a good BPV. you won't really need extra power on an auto-x course as long as you can turn and brake well.
then some decent brake pads (or rotors if you have the cash) will definitely help.
then exhaust
of course, do maintenance things first so your car runs!!! timing belt and clutch are musts!!! not only for auto-xing, but for daily driving!

Hmmm...first choice is
Tires. Hands down. But in a $400 budget that's not going to go very far.
Second choice is a 4pt seat-belt and a harness bar at miniumum. You MUST have the harness bar, you can't just bolt to the floor. Of your $400 about $100 will go to the belt, and for $300 you might be able to get a trick roll-bar made...if not at least a harness bar.
Use the belts ONLY at the autocross, as they'll kill you if you roll it without a roll bar. Not likely to happen in an autocross, but plausible on the street.
The belts hands down will make you the fastest out of all the choices, as you'll now be one with the car...not fighting your body weight as it slides back and forth.
If I had any money left after the harness and harness bar...I'd buy a really good set of sparco gloves.

ummmm if you're going to be auto-x'ing you may want to think about what class...
certain mods will put you in. if you get that one mod that puts you into another class and you dont have the other mods that the class allows...you'll be racing against other checkbooks.
