Default My ALMOST bad luck while driving my A4 yesterday (Long)

Over the years I have read about many unfortunate accidents and near miss stories on this site. Well, I can now add my near miss story.

Last night I was returning from a Home Depot run and I decided that it would be best to return using the 91 freeway eastbound (So. Ca.) rather than surface streets. It was just a one exit run from Weir Canyon to Imperial Hwy.

Well, all was well going about 70 in the "slow" lane. There was no one around in front of me except for a Mazda MPV that had it's flashers on over on the right shoulder.

As I am apporaching the non-moving car at 70 I notice he puts his left blinker on. I assume he's going to "run-up" his speed and merge on to the freeway; WRONG! He moves directly on to the freeway at about 10-15 MPH with me closing very rapidly and only about 4-5 car-lengths behind.

Well, I am happy to report that my new Mintex Redbox pads and ATE Powerdiscs worked GREAT! I quickly checked my mirror while I was braking heavily and made a quick move over to the left one lane. ABS came on briefly and made the maneuver relativle effortless.

After exiting at the next exit, I was driving on Imperial Hwy, a three lane road and an old Acura Legend that had its right blinker on came right over into my lane on his LEFT. Yet again I was lucky to have no one to my left and I was able to swerve away. It was just one of those days.

Default I can relate

I was on the way to the bar, traveling on Huron Street in Ypsilanti, MI. The road widened to 3 lanes, so I jumped into the far right lane as it opened up. Just as soon as I did, the purple Saturn coupe ahead of me starts to move over into the space my left fender currently occupies.

Honking the horn did nothing, she just kept on coming. I hit the brakes, shifted down, then blaster around her on the left side. As I'm passing her, I can see her checking her hair in the rearview mirror! Unbelievable!

I parked on the street in front of the bar, and sure enough, she parks across the street. I meet my friend, ans she sits across from us, and smiles at me. She wasn't even aware that I was the person she nearly hit.

Right as I was about to go talk to her, some guy shows up to meet her. If not for bad luck...

I did use the horn and flashed my lights, but I stopped just short of the "single digit wave" since I saw it was an older person driving.

Default happens to the best of us.

last week there was this guy in a duallie (sp?) that was fiddling around on the floor of his truck trying to grab his cell phone and started swerving to my lane. i was busy playing with my stereo. soon as i look up, he's halfway into my lane, only driver's shoulder in view, no right blinker, and i'm about 2 cars behind him coming up a bit quicker than him in the slow lane. took a swerve into the shoulder and back out. man, those RE730's hug!

I love me RE 730's as well. I just didn't read the site and find out I could have put 225's on my stock sport rims. I will never forgive myself for this mistake.
