my ashtray is jammed... how do i get it open..please help

my ashtray is jammed... how do i get it open..please help
god knows how it got stuck, but my front ashtray will not open at all. is there a non-damaging way to pry it open without breaking something?
theres nothing restricting it or jammed in the crevices, it just is stuck.
