My new 1.8T and the Long Arm of the Law
2 weeks to the day after buying my Silver 1.8T I was driving on the 405 in Los Angeles when a nice wide open straight-away w/ no cars presented it to myself. Being in hurry to get to my hiking-date I decided to punch it (only a little - not too much.) Well, after hitting about 90 I see Mr. Policeman right behind me. I knew I was toast, and started pulling over before he even lit me up. He pulls me over, askes for license, registration, and insurance. Well, the registration was taped to the windshield (no plates yet), my insurance card was for my old car, and to top it off my Drivers License was expired. Doh, double doh and triple doh!
Well let me just say that there is a happy ending to this story. He came back, without the ticket pad that had been in his had, and told me to get to the DMV tomorrow and get the DL taken care of. No ticket, no nothing. I don't know why the guy was so cool (he said he was in a good mood - and trust me I believe him), but he definitely made me day! To all you CHiPpies out there, thanks!
By the way, no groveling, no stories, no nothing. Just 'Yes Sir', 'I'm sorry sir', etc.
Any other 'Good Cop' stories out there?

actually, was dark and didn't realize it was the cop until after he turned off the spots and...
I recognised his headlights. This was AFTER the citation. Court date in 2 weeks.
on top of that both the cop that pulled me over and the one that joined in mid-citation went through a red light 2 lights later. My wife broke her neck last yer when some *** did that, but *I'm* the careless one =\. There was no way he was not going to hit me. I even researched the braking power on the police crown victoria. I guarantee that that 4000lbs cruiser could not possibly have slowed down nearly fast enough.
