my turn!
Today's the day - picking up my malange '01 1.8T manual quattro, sport, conv. A few questions about taking delivery:
1) Anything specific that I should ask the dealer or look for upon taking delivery?
2) It's a 90 mile drive home on the freeway (tucson to phoenix) - what's the best way/speed to drive it to break it in? I'm driving up to northern Arizona tomorrow night (mostly uphill) which will still be during the break-in period.
3) Anything I need to do special during the first month or two of ownership?
Thanks for your advice and I'm looking forward to joining the family!

A few things...(more)
First of all, congrats! I got my two weeks ago yesterday, and it's awesome!
The dealer should take about 45 minutes or show to teach you about each and every detail of the car. This includes showing you how to use the stereo, the environmental controls, the cruise control, etc. If anything looks confusing, ask him to explain it again.
The drive home is the same as the first 500 miles: keep it under 4000 rpms! After the first 500 miles, keep it under 5000 rpms. This is the standard break in period from what I've heard. (Of course, I got through the break in period in under a week, so this didn't keep me back long
Also, try to vary the rpms, and make sure to make extensive use of all your gears.
That's all I can think of, others will add in anything I've missed.
Most of all: Have fun with your new car!!!
Hope this helps,

Dealer should go over a lot with you
I am still grinning after almost 2 months myself...
They should show you how to use about everything and where everything is. They will probably advise you on break-in too but basically you should avoid full throttle, hard breaking, the redline and speeds over 3/4 of the speedometer. You should also vary your speed regularly so dont use the cruise. There is a couple paragraphs in the owners manual.<p>2001 A4 1.8TQMS
