Default Mystery clunk identified... Misfires, clyinder #6.....

Lots of them. I got 40 right off the bat, as I was driving up the street. Now to figure out why.

Default pretty simple, either plug or coilpack... rotate coilpacks, see if it follows

if it follows the coilpack you have your answer

Default Oh I hope so, here's the thing.... It sort of follows some of the symptoms of a bad head gasket...

let the car sit overnight, and it's essentially fine, take a short drive, start it back up, and it seems to act up more. This indicates head gasket, when the engine is modreately warm, the combustion chamber is not hot enough to burn off any coolant that enters it.. Here's the only somewhat good thing, the coolant level is not really dropping all that much, if at all. I'll have to wait till late tonight to get a really good look at it.

Default I bet that's a bit of a relief!

A misfire is much easier to diagnose and fix than the tranny. Good luck!

Default Let us know what your compression test shows.

It'll tell you for sure if it's your head gasket. If it's getting worse, you run the chance of Cyl #6 filling with coolant, and that will put a serious dent in your fun if you tried to start it that way

Anyone know the compression specs on the 2.8? I think I'll do a test on mine as well (60,100 miles)

Default Well, tonight I plan on pulling the plug, and giving it a close look...

and looking in the hole as well. If it's a bad gasket, I'll have to take out a loan to get it fixed. THis is not something I am prepared to do myself, on this car. My shop that quoted me in the $1600 range.
