Default need help! tiptronic problem..kinda serious

I cant switch over to tiptronice mode and sometimes it will automaticly switch me over when I hit the gas even when i dont switch the shifter to the right and hold that gear out. also the + and - on my steering wheel are always lit like ther are in tip mode. is the switch just stuck? you think it could be a computer problem? i dont want to put any more money into this freakin car!!!!!
99.5 1.8t tip quattro
thanks
Pete

I think there is a magnetic switch by the gear shifter that is bad.

Default just had a very very similar problem...

just a small little plastic piece with a mgnet on it which tells the computer which gear the tranny should be in.

minor fix just take it to your local shop and explain it is in the shifter assembly
