My friend is looking at a 97 A4 2.8Q. It is an automatic, fully loaded with 37,500 miles. It has the sport package, cold weather, power seats, etc... The car overall is in good condition. Of course it has some wear and tear. There are a few minor nicks and scratches on the outside and the interior shows some wear. The seats have fine leather cracks and look a little worn out. The steering wheel and shift **** have worn spots and are dulled out from the sun.

He negotioated the price down to $12,500.

What do to guys think? What are some known problems of the 97's that he should be aware of? All comments and opinions are appreciated!

Sounds like a fair bit of wear for 37K?? (steer+****) Price seems near? IMO bit high? ;-)

I got my '97 2.8 for 12k with 60k miles

I thought mine was a good deal.

cpu's sometimes go out too so do a carfax, my a4 says only like 30k miles because of new computer.

That was my biggest concern too!! The interior looks too worn out to only have 37K miles. Thanks!
