Need some questions answered about hardwiring my V1....
I looked at the tech article and I also did a search and I'm still unclear about how to connect the red wire to slot #27.
Did you remove the blue plastic piece on the red wire and plug the connector into the fuse and then attach the ground wire to one of the bolts in the fuse panel? Were there any additional pieces that you needed to purchase or is everything that you need provided with the V1?

everything you need is included...
although I'd buy a ring terminal, crimp the power wire to it and tap power at the 75X block under the steering column. I've wired several V1s in A4/S4s like that, including my own.

Yup...
My fear with the wire in the fusebox method is that it will somehow short and cause a fire. I haven't looked at the fuse panel carefully enough to see if that's even possible. The method you mentioned is cleaner, just as easy, and presents no risk of fire, so I just went that route.

here is all you do....
Remove the fuse panel cover
Remove knee bolster under the steering wheel....there are four bolts I think for this. Two of them are behind the plastic trim pieces around the top of the knee bolster. Carefully pry them out of the bolster to reveal the bolts underneath. I think all four bolts are 8mm.
Tap the V1 black ground wire; I used the bolt just below the fuse panel.
With the knee bolster removed, to the left of the steering column you will see three large power distribution "blocks" or bolts with a ton of electrical wire tapped in from behind, just above/to the right of the dead pedal. One of them, I believe the center one, is labeled 75X. This is switched power, meaning it will power everything connected to it when you turn the key to ON. Just loosen the 75X nut and tap the red V1 power wire there.
This is a 20 minute job, easily, even for first-timers.
