Default New A4 Model range......A4 Coupe..RS4 engine!

Meet The Next-generation A4 Family
Issue 575 - AutoExpress --

A new, ultra-sleek super coupé has been revealed as the flagship of an all-new Audi A4 range. The next family of A4s is aimed at knocking BMW's 3-Series and Mercedes' next C-Class squarely for six - and the new line-up is exclusively revealed in full here.
The sporty coupé is the glamour model and is expected to hit the road a year after the saloon reaches UK showrooms in summer 2001. Designed in response to the new 3-Series coupé, the two-door A4 is being developed with attention to the driving experience, which has been criticised for being too remote. Improved dynamics are promised for the new A4 line-up, underlining the first substantial redesign since a facelift earlier this year saw a number of improvements to the car's looks, equipment and driveability.

As with the current A4, the new line-up will feature an estate variant and a convertible. The soft-top will be built by specialist coachbuilder Karmann in time for a launch in late 2002. Early indications are that this model will feature an electrically powered folding roof, four-wheel drive and a high-performance 2.7-litre turbocharged engine. As our exclusive pictures show, Audi is following BMW's lead to bring the benefits usually associated with bigger models to cars further down the range. That's why the new A4 shares so many visual cues with the A6. Bigger, roomier and more luxurious than the car it replaces, the new A4 takes many styling touches from the A6, including high sides and a swooping roofline. More pronounced wheelarches plus spoilers and bumpers reminiscent of the A6's give the A4 saloon its sharp look. Front and rear overhangs are slightly longer, but black sills slim the car's appearance. The new A4 will also have more space inside, addressing a long-held criticism of the current model.

Technological improvements will include a multitronic CVT gearbox, while an ultra-frugal direct-injection petrol engine is rumoured to be in the pipeline, possibly shared with the new baby A2. From launch, the A4 will come as a front-wheel-drive model, with quattro variants following. Up to five engines will be available, from a 100bhp 1.4-litre four-cylinder unit to a 220bhp V6. Diesel options will include a 163bhp V6. The coupé is expected to use Audi's 2.7-litre bi-turbo which powers the 152mph A6 2.7T. Those who crave performance will be pleased to hear that Audi is also reported to be considering using the 380bhp RS4 engine. That unit is due to make an appearance in the current A4 late next year as a special edition. Feedback and coment to DNWire

Default Wishful thinking...U.S. won't see RS4 and probably not a coupe either...

The article was European, no doubt. It's very similar if not the same as the one written in German that was posted a few days ago.
Unfortunately, we are not as lucky as the Europeans and have never seen the RS4 hit our shores. Nor is that likely to happen.
I also doubt they will bring the coupe to our shores, although I cross my fingers and hope.
