new starter battery fine, no crank

i have a 96 audi a4 quattro 5 spd and the car was running fine until one night i was sitting in the car while it was running, everything was fine, then i cut it off and immediatly tried to start it and nothin, no crank at all... i figured the starter went bad so i took it to be tested it was bad so i replaced it and the same problem is happening.. i have radio lights.. all electrical works and the starter is brand new. car still wont even crank...please help

Sounds like something simple, like a fuse or a relay.
More complicated things like immobiliser or ECU would tend to still let the engine crank...

Well, if he's in the US, he doesn't have that to worry about.

Ignition switch is bad.

Ignition switch was recalled on 96-97 audi A4 model.

I had the same problem and had mine fix for free at dealership.
