OK, so I had an episode where I jumped another car with mine and fried the battery management module. Replaced it, cleared the codes with the VCDS and it ran fine. Wanted to reprogram the battery and module, but VCDS was not accepting inputs.

Now, two months later, the car will not start unless I clear the codes. I have seen two diagnoses:
1. It's a steering column sensor out and it will take replacing the whole column to fix.
2. It's a battery low issue and that's causing other problems in the system.

You tell me.

Just a quick one ... or two.
There is a cowl drain under the battery. What surprised me is that there is a second drain under the brake master cylinder.
If this one has water in it it will mess up the electronics, ABS, ESP and a bunch of other stuff. I cleaned both drains and ... presto, a whole bunch of issues cleared up.
I had been quoted $1,000+ to fix the ABS and steering angle sensor. Just a little drain cleaning and everything is working again.
P3081 Low Temp Indication.
If the thermostat is not getting the engine to normal temperatures, replace the thermostat.
If it does get warm and the code is active, likely the Temperature Sensor (the green one) needs replacement. These seem to be cheap too. Be sure to get anew O ring (or two).
