newbie....tune up on a 12v what do you guys reccommend
i'm wanting to perform my own tune up on my 1996 12v can you guys tell me what i should do and if i can actually do it myself

Miles? Definately do plugs, wires, and air filter.
Depending on miles you might want to do the fuel filter (PITA on a Quattro). Also check or replace your vacuum hoses. If they are original, might as well replace them.
With the possible exception of the fuel filter, you should be able to all this yourself. Just don't overtighten the plugs.

I would recommend the OEM NGK plugs and OEM Bremi Wires.
You're probably right at the point where you should do the fuel filter, too. I did it myself and there is a write-up on it in the archives but it is a PITA.<ul><li><a href="http://www.germanautoparts.com">Get them here...</a></li></ul>
