non-bose stock speaker opinions
i'm upgrading the stock system with a sony xplod 5channel amp that puts out 60w per channel plus 150w for a subwoofer. i'm planning on replacing the rear speakers, but what about the fronts? any chance i'll be happy with them with an amp and new rear speakers, or should i just have the installer do them at the same time? i hoped to avoid them mostly to avoid having the door panels removed (more chances for rattles etc). thanks for your .02

I'm gonna replace the front ones and back ones.
Im planning to replace all the speakers, and get a the sony Amp below that one...and run one sub in the back(12")...Im not replacing the head unit cuz I like that red stealth look...If you have the funds, also get Dynamat, I've been told it works. JL also makes a stealth box but its hella expensive. Probably worth it though...if you have a 2001 you have to mod your truck Im told...Some one has a page up with all these mods to his system, I think its MarkP...anyhow thats my .02

IME, you're not going to incur any rattles (more)
The door panels secure rather tightly to the doorframe via a series of integrated grooves, guides, and three screws. You run a far greater chance of rattling after a rear-deck upgrade, especially if the installer doesn't use foam gasketing for the mounts of the new drivers.
Additionally, when was the last time you went to a concert and the band was playing -behind- you?
I'd upgrade front, leave rear stock, add a sub and proper amplification. You'll be far happier.
