is this normal???...
my new 00 1.8qm is going on about 2k miles and ever since i had it, in the morning, or on the first drive after a long time the car was parked( around 12 hours) when i start the car and put it into 1st and very slowly make a hard right turn to get out of my parking spot, i hear a rather high pitched squeeking noise. is this just the fan belt not being warm enough? i'm in boston so we're having real crapy weather for example today that would be april 25 and it snowed and its about 8 degrees with wind chill!!! could this be a problem? or should i get it checked out to make sure its not my front axel or suspension? the thing is after that initial first 3 seconds then all is fine until the next drive after a long layover.

Yes, get it checked out. The possibilities include bad power steering pump, low fluid
in the power steering reservoir or just a loose belt. Or it could be something entirely out of the steering system. But it's not normal.

Check the level of the power steering fluid...
if it's low, fill it up with the recommended stuff and see if it stays filled. I had
the same symptoms as well as a groaning sound from the power steering
pump. Turned out to be a bad steering rack, which Clair (I'm in Boston,too)
replaced in about a week. My car was about a month old with a couple
thousand miles.

I live in Boston, and have exact same thing!
The fact that it goes away after first turn make me think it might be the dry rubber friction against the wet road!!!! (It has been wet here for about a year...j/k)Anyone else have any ideas?<p><A href="http://registry.audiworld.com/audi/registry/details.asp?car=4586">
