Odometer question
I have a 99.5 A4tq. What are the chances someone could have rolled the odometer on the car? Is it easily done? Is there another place in the car where the miles get recorded?

the odometer isnt in the instrument panel
mine was replaced and the mileage wasnt reset by the changeover.
I have been wondering where the thing keeps the mileage info actually. Its not in the ECU either, because you can change the ECU and not change the mileage. So where is the mile count kept I dunno??? there is probably a module for it someplace in the car, damned if I know where.

I had an instrument cluster failure in my '98 A4 2.8. The dealer made a mistake and set the mileage in the new cluster to 80,000 rather than 8,000. Dealer said it could not be reset and they would have to order a new cluster. AOA made them eat the cost since it was the dealer's screw up.
